Candidates should be able to demonstrate knowledge and awareness of children law, relevant legislation and have experience of conducting their own advocacy.

The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated, positive, Corporate/Commercial Legal Executive/Solicitor to be great at assisting and advising clients on:
  • corporate transactional matters, including business sales (share and asset), acquisitions and restructures
  • company matters, including shareholders agreements, company secretarial matters and EMIs;

Duties Include

  • Giving estimates of costs to new clients and being responsible for managing costs throughout all matters
  • To liaise with clients commercial agents, business sale brokers, other professionals and opposing solicitors by telephone, post, e-mail or in person, as necessary, at every stage of the transaction
  • To be responsible for all file opening and AML procedures and to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in relation to the same
  • To manage a range of corporate and commercial matters from initial instruction through to matter conclusion
  • To ensure the confidentiality of all the firm’s and clients’ documentation
  • To achieve agreed levels of time-recording (as appropriate)
  • To undertake any other tasks as may be required from time to time

Experience & Background

Ideally we are looking for a qualified Solicitor with minimum 2 years’ experience in corporate and commercial work but applications will be considered from those with alternative relevant qualifications or who can demonstrate equivalent skills and experience

We’re looking for somebody with excellent knowledge of

  • legal experience which has mostly been gained on non-contentious business transactions and issues
  • business drivers affecting, and legal, regulatory and business risks of owner managed businesses.
  • corporate transactional work; and
  • general commercial law

You should also have

  • An ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a small, supportive team while taking responsibility for their own work
  • Effective oral and written communication skills

The Role

Watson Ramsbottom Solicitors are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and hard-working administrator/receptionist for our office in Great Harwood. This role will have a number of different facets from welcoming clients, to dealing with calls on our busy reception desk, dealing with incoming & outgoing post and a variety of other administrative tasks. Candidates should ideally have worked within a legal or similar environment and have therefore developed a high level of customer service skills/abilities.

The main duties involved in this role are as follows: –

  • Assist with reception duties, dealing with incoming client calls or clients/contractors who arrive on site in a friendly and efficient manner, projecting a positive image and ethos of the firm.
  • Process incoming mail, send and receive faxes, sort and distribute post to staff, photocopying and scanning documents into the appropriate client’s matter in the Company’s case management system using the client reference number.
  • Where no client reference is available, undertake necessary checks to identify client.
  • Archiving – Preparing files/boxes for dispatch to external storage company, which includes inputting details onto IT system, or for storage on site. Action requests for retrieval of files, wills or deeds from storage.
  • Acceptance and preparation for dispatch of recorded/special delivery items/post.
  • Preparation of external mail for delivery to Post Office and our own internal weekly courier.
  • Monitor stationary stock levels and assist with the preparation and submission of stationary orders. Check deliveries against delivery notes and advise if there are any discrepancies.
  • Open and close client matters using the company’s case management system using client reference numbers.
  • Arrange appointments and meetings for staff
  • Undertake all other clerical and administrative duties as may reasonably be required from time to time

The Role

To provide cost effective legal and administrative support to the director and other senior fee earners in the team in the work of the department.

Key tasks

Undertake certain elements of fee earning work under supervision. In particular:

  • file creation;
  • generation of suitable client care correspondence;
  • completion of client questionnaires;
  • drafting of petition/court documentation, i.e.

– preparation of court bundles.

– taking instructions from clients where appropriate.

attendance at routine directions/interlocutory hearings;

completion of online legal applications.The jobholder is not designated as a matter handler for file review purposes and does not therefore have their own file caseload.

Deal wherever possible with routine client enquiries and communications.

Manage the collation of matter start and matter completion data and prepare all claims for costs, referring major matters to costs clerk by agreement with director/fee-earner.

Deputise for fee-earner in their absence, passing urgent issues to another senior fee earner for guidance when necessary.

Co-ordination of the key dates reminder system as outlined in the office manual.

Candidate Requirements:

Basic knowledge of law and legal procedures (minimum LLB qualified)

Communication (Telephone, in writing and face to face)
