Law Society Excellence Awards Shortlist 2016Renowned family law solicitor Rachel Horman, Director at Watson Ramsbottom Solicitors is once again in the running for national recognition after being shortlisted for Woman Lawyer of the Year at the Law Society Excellence Awards 2016.

National recognition of Rachel’s work has been a frequent occurrence since becoming the national Legal Aid Lawyer of the year in 2012, and Family Law Partner of the Year in 2014, culminating this year in a double award shortlisting including the 2016 Enterprise Vision Awards, recognising the achievement of women in business across the North West.

Through her acknowledged expertise in family law, particularly the areas of domestic violence, forced marriage and stalking, Rachel is both an established media commentator and instrumental in spearheading legislative change. Rachel has been invited to sit on two all Parliamentary groups for Domestic violence as well as Stalking and Harassment and is leading the current campaign to increase the maximum sentence for stalking offences.

The Woman Lawyer of the Year award at the annual Law Society Excellence Awards for which Rachel has been shortlisted recognises female solicitors that have achieved significant results at a senior level – where there are significantly fewer females represented proportionately – in either business or for the benefit of society, through a specific practice or segment of the legal profession.

Watson Ramsbottom Managing Director Philip Thompson said ‘ everyone who knows Rachel will be aware of her enthusiasm and total commitment to her work – it will come as no surprise to her many clients, colleagues and peers that her work is again receiving such deserved recognition.’

The awards ceremony takes place in London on Thursday 20th October, where the winner will be announced.
