Gabriel Lingard’s (Ice) Hockey Heroics (Pt. 2)

Our very own Jon & Naomi’ Lingard’s son, Gabriel – is a promising Ice Hockey Goalkeeper who we are very proud to sponsor!

You may remember our post from last year, detailing Gabriel’s heroics at a Ice Hockey tournament.

Following on from Gabriel’s success at Conference where he was named Goalie of the tournament, he travelled to Scotland at the end of May as part of Team England North to play the tournament against Scotland and England South.

And again, more Success.

The new season started at the beginning of September, which saw Gabriel start with a new Club- Hull Sharks Under 18’s.

Gabriel has also been given the opportunity to be part of Hull’s Adult Team (NIHL Division 2) – Hull Jets and they have increased his skill as a netminder, as training with adults the skill and accuracy of shots has greatly increased from those playing under 18’s.

Gabriel was also given the opportunity to Train and be the back up goalie for Widnes wild (NIHL Division 1), which saw 3, 16-year-old players all take to the ice on the same day, – which saw Gabriel and his teammates in the local Widnes newspaper.

On Monday 13th Feb, Gabriel will be heading to Cambridge for his third England trial too, hoping he will be successful in gaining a place on the England team that will head to Slovakia in the summer to play a European Tournament.

Outside of his Ice Hockey Heroics, Gabriel managed to finish high school passing all his GCSE’s and has worked hard to gain a place with local firm WEC as a Welding apprentice.

Well done Gabriel, best of luck with your trials and for the remainder of the season.
