Elaine Johnson, one of our Family team experts would like to make sure potential clients are aware of an upcoming change regarding divorces. The Bill that introduces ‘no-fault’ divorce (the Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Bill 2017-2019) has now been introduced into Parliament.

It will allow a couple to apply for divorce merely by filing a statement that their marriage or civil partnership has irretrievably broken down. Currently, there has to be proof of grounds for asserting irretrievable breakdown, such as the conduct of the other spouse or living apart for at least two years.

For advice on dealing with any family law issue or the dissolution of a relationship, contact Elaine on 01254 70 11 11, or complete our online enquiry form and one of our experts will contact you to arrange an appointment with an expert.
