Phillip Thompson, Consultant Solicitor and former Managing Director of Watson Ramsbottom Solicitors, recently attended a special event organised by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) to pass on his words of wisdom to aspiring Law students.
UCLan’s annual Careers Jamming Session (cJAM) event, where students learn from the best in the business and pitch to win work placements, brought in 30 industry representatives from Watson Ramsbottom and many other practices based throughout the North West.
It’s the first time Watson Ramsbottom have attended the event hosted by UCLan, where a total 91 people attended the law gathering.
Phillip Thompson commented to say, “This was an amazingly positive experience not just for the Law students at Uclan Law, but professionals also learnt a lot. The students were all really energetic and positive, and have chosen a really great degree which will stand them in good stead for their futures – and a dynamic University at which to study.
“Executive Dean Jane Anthony, organiser Simon Price, Principal Lecturer, and professional lecturers and mentors show fantastic enthusiasm, leadership and wonderful initiative setting this up for the students, and it was really well organised. Thoroughly recommended.
“Hopefully we can continue to attend the event in the future, and eventually see some of the talented individuals representing Watson Ramsbottom and offering excellent knowledge and advice to clients.”
Third year law student, 41-year-old Fiona Hope attended cJAM Law. She said: “All of the speakers were inspiring and their advice has made me realise that success isn’t just about academic achievement, it’s about the whole package; what you can offer as a person and what you’re passionate about.”
